In summer of 2025, the Army Corps of Engineers will be undertaking a project to increase the structural integrity of the Magnolia Levee. The scope of this project includes covering a portion of the Sandy and Beaver Canal south of Carrollton St (State Route 183).
On January 21st, the Corps held two public meeting sessions to review the project and answer questions from residents; the summary from those sessions are below.
See below sheets for the overview of the project:
Ohio Fireworks Laws:
Yes, you can use fireworks in Ohio and inside the Village, with some important stipulations:
Dates: July 3, 4, and 5, and the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday immediately before and after July 4th (4 p.m.-11 p.m.)
Locations: Consumers can discharge fireworks on their own property or on another person’s property if the owner of that property has given express permission for fireworks to be discharged. There must be at least a 150 foot separation distance from the point of discharge of each firework aerial shell to spectators and to the nearest point of any structure or building.
Other notes:
Fireworks cannot be discharged on public property or private school property.
No person under the age of 18 is permitted to handle or discharge fireworks.
The 150’ distance requirement is an important detail in the Village; alleys and streets typically have homes or other structures within that distance, so please find somewhere further away. Embers or parts of spent fireworks can easily fall onto structures, so be sure the area is clear and know where the wind is coming from.
Our first responders want to enjoy their holiday weekend too – please keep yourself and others safe without giving police, fire, or EMS crews a reason to come see you.
